How to structure your Meta Ads campaigns in 2026

On Meta Ads the result depends on three decisions made together: the campaign type, the audience mix and the creative. A good structure is the one that lets those three pieces work. The most common mistake we see in the accounts we audit is the opposite: too many campaigns and ad sets, each with very little data.
Meta explains that an ad set exits the learning phase once it collects around 50 optimisation events in 7 days. If you spread budget across many ad sets, none reaches that volume and they get stuck in limited learning, with less stable results. That is why a simple structure usually performs better:
In February 2025 Meta renamed Advantage+ shopping campaigns as Advantage+ sales campaigns, to reflect that they are not only for e-commerce, and extended automation to other objectives such as lead generation. If you still see campaigns under the old name in your account, it is worth reviewing them.
Changing the audience, the optimisation event or the creative, or pausing an ad set, can restart the learning phase. It is better to batch changes and give each adjustment time before drawing conclusions.
With targeting increasingly automated, creative also tells the system who to show each ad to. Testing different angles —a problem, a demo, social proof, an offer— works better than cosmetic variations of the same idea.
The pixel loses events to ad blockers and browser restrictions. Meta’s Conversions API sends those events from your server, e-commerce platform or CRM, and Meta presents it as a way to improve optimisation and results measurement. With more data, the algorithm makes better decisions about who to show your ads to.
There is no brilliant campaign on incomplete data: fix measurement first, then discuss creative.
